Whether you’re dealing with work or relationship stress, the lasting effects of trauma, or mental illness, we all need someone to talk to—someone to help us find balance. I’m Justin Coffey, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (supervised by Emilie Morrison, LPC-S). My purpose is to truly see and understand you and your experiences, then work together to build a life of contentment and meaning in line with your personal goals, beliefs, and values. As a clinician, I have a warm and casual style that clients have said makes them feel cared for, understood, and appreciated for all they are.
I treat many common mental health issues and diagnoses like personal or relationship stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar, emotional dysregulation, suicidality, and self-harm. I also work with trauma (especially complex traumas like emotional and psychological abuse or childhood and religious traumas) and LGBTQIA+ folks. It’s vital to work in a way that’s best for you, so I tailor my approach to each client. That said, I tend to think of people psychodynamically—basically, as products of our past experiences and patterns. My preferred treatment methods include internal family systems therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and EMDR. I believe it’s important to address the root causes of your issues rather than settle for a quick, temporary fix. My goal is to help you gain the insight and skills to tackle life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
I work with adults and teens, a demographic with whom I have particularly good rapport. My aim is to create strong relationships and trusting spaces where anyone and everyone feels comfortable, so I also welcome clients who may feel hesitant about therapy out of fear they may not be taken seriously or face prejudice and judgment, whatever the reason.
On a personal note, my favorite things are hiking and off-roading in the Mountain West, landscape photography, music, singing, documentaries, college football, food, travel, and sitcom reruns. I also used to be a singer and actor.
Whatever your concerns and whatever your circumstances, there’s a way forward. You’ve got this. So, let’s get started.
