Hi! My name is Rebecca, and I’m a marriage and family therapist (MFT) associate.
My journey to becoming an MFT has been a bit tortuous. I actually started in Applied Behavioral Analysis, receiving my Masters degree in 2014. After graduating, I worked supporting individuals with disabilities in day programs and group homes in Chicago. It was a rewarding experience that really impressed upon me the importance of 1) recognizing the unique needs of every individual and 2) approaching every person’s situation with curiosity and an open mind. These are lessons I find extremely applicable to this day. While I loved being working in ABA, I found myself wanting to support individuals beyond the behavioral level. I decided to go back to school and get my Masters in Marriage and Family therapy. I graduated in 2021 and have been practicing ever since.
I joined the Texas Counseling Center family in 2023 and work out of our Missouri City location. I currently see couples and adults (18+) and primarily support individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, disordered eating and eating disorders, marital work, premarital counseling, and stress management. I believe a strong rapport is the foundation to having a successful therapeutic relationship. I try to create a safe space, where clients feel heard and respected. Once we have a strong therapeutic relationship, we can explore therapeutic modalities, and find one that is most fitting for your needs. Therapeutic modalities I employ include, but are not limited to, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Gottman method.
I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration in which we work together to manage whatever challenges you may be facing. Every person’s needs and experiences are exclusive to their journey. My goal is to understand your unique story and provide a safe space for you to embrace and explore your own individual thoughts, emotions, and perceptions. As we work together, I will support you emotionally and provide you with tools and techniques to utilize outside of our sessions as you continue to navigate your day to day.
Outside of work I enjoy weightlifting, scary movies, reading, and spending time with my husband and our two cats.
