Hi, I’m Andrea Moros! I’m a counselor in training at the Texas Counseling Center in Missouri City under the supervision of Cynthia L. Rojas, M.A., LPC. I’m currently pursuing my Master of Education in Counseling and Development with a focus on Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, and expect to graduate in May 2026.
My path to counseling wasn’t exactly traditional. I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston in 2015 and spent several years working in higher education as an academic advisor. Through that experience, I realized that I have a natural ability to build trust with others, people open up to me easily, and I’m passionate about helping people work through challenges and find practical solutions. That clarity led me to counseling, where I feel I’ve truly found my calling.
I’m particularly passionate about working with couples and hope to specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and eventually become certified in sex therapy. I’m fascinated by the dynamics of romantic relationships and how they can deeply impact our overall happiness and emotional health. My goal is to help couples enhance intimacy, improve communication, and resolve conflicts in ways that strengthen their connection and create a sense of emotional security.
While I’m still developing my counseling style, I’m drawn to approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and person-centered therapy. I believe that understanding emotional patterns, challenging unhelpful thoughts, and fostering a supportive therapeutic environment can help clients navigate challenges more effectively. My approach will continue to evolve as I gain experience and learn what works best for the individuals and couples I work with.
As a Venezuelan immigrant fluent in both English and Spanish, I’m passionate about serving the Hispanic community and increasing access to mental health support. I believe that feeling seen and understood, especially within the context of culture and identity, can be a powerful foundation for healing and growth.
Outside of counseling, I love spending time with my husband and our dog Perla. I value time with family and friends, and I recharge by working out, going for walks at the park, exploring coffee shops, and unwinding with a good movie. I’ve learned that taking care of myself helps me show up better for others, and that’s a value I hope to share with my clients as well.
I’m honored to walk alongside you in your journey toward healing and growth, and I look forward to supporting you every step of the way.
