Hello! My name is Kindra Harper, and I am a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) at Texas Counseling Center, where I’m dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey toward mental well-being. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Sam Houston State University and have the privilege of working under the supervision of Cynthia Rojas, MA, LPC, during this internship.
My professional background includes working with individuals facing severe anxiety, depression, trauma, and the complexities of family history and relationship dynamics. I’ve also had the honor of supporting clients with traumatic brain injuries. I’m deeply passionate about helping others develop healthy coping mechanisms and approach life’s challenges from a positive, growth-oriented perspective. Through my personal and professional experiences, I have cultivated an empathetic, patient, and understanding approach to healing. My goal is to empower you by building your confidence and resilience, equipping you to navigate future challenges and achieve your mental health goals.
My counseling philosophy is grounded in the existential belief that we each have the power and the responsibility to create meaning and purpose in our lives. As individuals, we are inherently free to shape our experiences and choices, yet this freedom comes with the responsibility to cultivate self-awareness and make intentional decisions that guide our path. By exploring the fundamental questions of existence i.e., identity, freedom, connection, and purpose, I aim to empower clients to take ownership of their lives and navigate challenges with authenticity, resilience, and a sense of personal agency.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I’ve had the opportunity to live in five different states, each of which has shaped my perspective in unique ways. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Oregon in 2022 and later moved to Texas to be closer to my husband’s large southern family. Since arriving, I’ve enjoyed immersing myself in the rich, diverse cultures of the Houston area. Creativity is an essential outlet for me, I love expressing myself through drawing, painting, sculpting, and even refurbishing antiques. At the core of everything I do is a deep commitment to my family, and my greatest purpose is to guide and support others as they navigate their paths toward healing and growth.
