Hi there! I’m Tiira Horton, a counselor-in-training under the supervision of Cynthia L. Rojas, MA, LPC. I’m working towards my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston–Victoria, and I’m truly passionate about supporting others through life’s ups and downs.
Before diving into counseling, I spent six years as a public school educator. This experience gave me a lot of confidence in working with people from all walks of life, especially when it comes to navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, and life changes. Whether working with kids, teens, or adults, I’ve learned how to meet people where they are and create a space where they feel heard and understood.
As a counselor-in-training, I focus on providing a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where individuals feel safe to explore what’s going on in their lives. I believe in working together with clients to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and find ways to move forward in a positive, authentic direction.
My approach is client-centered, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and solution-focused strategies to help clients build resilience and create lasting change. I also have experience using play therapy approaches with young children. Play therapy gives children a unique way to express themselves, helping them work through emotions and challenges safely and creatively.
I’m deeply passionate about mental health, personal growth, and helping people develop the tools they need to thrive. Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, spending time with family, and continuing my journey of learning and growth.
I’m honored to be a part of your journey and look forward to supporting you along the way!
