Hello! My name is Sydney Blackwell-Hill, and I am an Marriage and Family Therapist Associate supervised by Dr. Griselda Lloyd, PhD, LMFT. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Dallas, Texas, after graduating in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Since then, I have earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, connect with their intuition, and discover their inner strength.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds in a community agency setting. I have assisted individuals facing anxiety, depression, traumatic life events, family issues, and other mental health challenges.
When you choose to work with me, you can expect a compassionate and collaborative approach to therapy. I believe that humans are neither inherently virtuous nor vicious; instead, our identities are shaped by the relationships and connections we form with others. This philosophy informs my therapeutic approach, allowing me to incorporate various models into my practice. I utilize evidence-based techniques such as Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to empower clients, treating them as experts in their own lives and helping them articulate their stories to promote personal growth and recovery.
As a trauma-informed therapist recently trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I specialize in supporting those who have experienced trauma and are striving to regain balance in their lives. My extensive training enables me to work effectively with children, couples, and families. I offer family therapy, play therapy for children, and couples counseling (including marital and pre-engagement therapy). My ultimate goal is to deepen your understanding of yourself, empower you to reshape the narrative of your life, and support you in achieving the growth you envision.
I believe that healthy boundaries, effective communication, and resilience are foundational elements of a positive therapeutic journey. I also place great importance on humor and authenticity as a therapist. Recognizing that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is essential for client progress, I am dedicated to ensuring that you feel comfortable during our time together. Through our collaboration, I aim to equip you with the skills and self-awareness needed to navigate life’s complexities while remaining true to yourself and extending grace to yourself throughout the process.
