Welcome! My name is Jeannie D. Copado, Supervised by Larry Bell, LMFT-S. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a Master of Arts in Marriage in Family Therapy from the University of Houston – Clear Lake.
My experience initially circled around primarily with children, adolescents, and families since 2015. I worked with children with learning difficulties at Houston ISD. Shortly after, I worked as a Registered Behavioral Technician in ABA Therapy with children on the Autism Spectrum for 3 years. I gained additional clinical experience interning with adolescents at the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center and The Center for Success and Independence residential center dealing with substance abuse, behavioral issues, suicidal ideation, and self-harm.
I am a proud wife and new mother of a beautiful daughter. I have learned how to deal with challenges differently, and it has taught me ways to adapt to life changing experiences while maintaining my relationships and individuality. My experience has sparked an added interest in my therapy work wanting to support couples through the challenges of life events.
The best part about being a therapist is being able to be a partake in the change of others. Through each person’s journey I want to provide additional resources and support to help guide them with their needs. Some of the qualities that make me a great therapist are that I can adapt to individual’s needs, be reliable, authentic, and create a healthy environment. My therapy approach I utilized are Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Mindfulness – Based interventions.
Fun Fact: I competed in the sport of boxing for 13 years.
