Hello, my name is Alexander Malik, MEd, LPC Associate, supervised by Bonnie Scott, LPC S, at Texas Counseling Center in Sugar Land. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2016 and my Master of Education in Counseling in 2025, both from the University of Houston.
Born in London, England, I have lived in many places, but Houston and Sugar Land are home. I am Irish and Pakistani, and growing up within both cultures has given me a deep appreciation for diverse identities, family systems, and lived experiences.
My approach to counseling is rooted in humanistic, person centered therapy, where I prioritize authenticity, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, particularly in my work with individuals navigating eating disorders.
While my foundation is relational and person centered, I incorporate experiential approaches such as Brainspotting, Phase 1 trained, to help clients process emotional experiences that may not fully respond to traditional talk therapy. When clinically appropriate, Brainspotting can support clients in working through experiences that feel stuck at a deeper level. I am committed to continuing advanced training in this method as part of my ongoing professional development.
My work is influenced by Relational Cultural Theory and grounded in LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive care.
I have facilitated psychoeducational groups for individuals with eating disorders and completed my clinical internship with the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department. I work with adolescents ages 15 and older and adults in individual, family, and group settings.
Outside of session, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, reading science fiction, and playing video games. I also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. That experience continues to shape my resilience, discipline, and deep respect for the courage it takes to seek support.
