Hello, my name is Kayla Almaguer, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) at Texas Counseling Center in Sugar Land, under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Scott Sparrow.
I believe we are all doing the best we can with the knowledge we have at the time. Sometimes that can look like staying busy when we need rest, putting others first, even when we’re running low ourselves, or getting through the day by avoiding conflict. These responses are learned over time, and they often make sense in context, but there comes a time when they start to work against us.
Therapy can be a space to slow down, reflect, and begin to understand where these patterns come from and how we have the ability to change them for the better.
Before entering clinical practice, I spent several years working in higher education, communication, and consulting roles, helping people and organizations make sense of complex challenges and learn how to navigate change more effectively. That experience continues to shape how I work. No matter where you are in your healing journey, building awareness and gaining practical tools to apply in daily life can make all the difference.
I often work with adults who are used to functioning at a high level, including those who work in high-stress jobs. You don’t have wait to be in crisis. If you notice the effects of ongoing stress or burnout, even if things appear stable from the outside, you are not alone. I understand, all too well, how easy it is to stay in that space without having the time or support to step back and make sense of what’s actually going on.
We can start where you are and begin to better understand what you’ve been experiencing, while developing new, more sustainable ways of responding that better align with who you are.
