My name is Garry Nix, and I am currently a graduate student at Houston Christian University, pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling under the supervision of Cynthia Rojas. I also hold a Master’s degree in Human Behavior from National University in La Jolla, California, and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Originally from Missouri City, Texas, I now reside in Rosharon, Texas. I proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy, traveling the world eight times. I also have 13 years of experience in law enforcement, 10 years in residential treatment, and 7 years as an instructor at a Junior College. These life experiences have shaped my approach to counseling, which is grounded in the belief that each individual is unique and has their own story to tell. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences and feelings. As a counselor, I see myself not just as a guide but as a partner who is ready to understand and support you on your journey.
Life can be challenging, and each challenge brings its own struggles. Sometimes, we find ourselves in need of support from others. During these moments, I see my role as a trusted partner, ready to walk alongside you as you navigate through life’s difficulties.
Through my life experiences and strong faith, I have come to believe that we all need guidance and support when facing life’s challenges. We all need someone to listen, to walk beside us in a non-judgmental way, and to help us become a better version of ourselves—someone who can help us grow beyond the person we were yesterday.
