Hello, my name is Garry Nix, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at Texas Counseling Center Pearland location, under the supervision of Jackeline Hurtado, LPC-S. I hold a Master’s degree in Human Behavior from National University in La Jolla, California, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University. I am certified in EMDR and have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), amongst many other therapeutic modalities.
Originally from Missouri City, Texas, I now reside in Rosharon, Texas. My professional background includes 20 years of service in the United States Navy, followed by 13 years in law enforcement. I have also spent 10 years working in residential treatment and 7 years as an instructor at a junior college. These experiences, along with my faith, have shaped both my life and my approach to counseling.
I believe that every individual is uniquely created, with a purpose and a story that deserves to be heard. My approach is rooted in providing a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their struggles, find clarity, and experience growth. I view the counseling relationship as a partnership, walking alongside you through life’s challenges with compassion, respect, and understanding.
For those who desire it, I am able to integrate faith into the counseling process, recognizing the important role that spirituality can play in healing, restoration, and personal growth. I believe that true transformation involves not only the mind, but also the heart and spirit.
Life can bring difficult seasons, and no one is meant to walk through them alone. My role is to support, encourage, and help guide you as you navigate challenges, build resilience, and move toward becoming the best version of yourself—growing beyond who you were yesterday and stepping into who you are created to be.
