Hello, my name is Amber Yonda, and I am a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate at Texas Counseling Center Katy location under the supervision of Damilola Adesina, LPC-S.
I received my Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Houston Downtown. I then pursued my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University
I have several years of experience within the foster care system as a licensed foster parent and adoptive parent. In doing this work, I have always had a passion for working with children especially those with trauma or neurological differences. I am passionate about being a consistent, safe, and nurturing presence for children navigating complex emotional experiences I value the opportunity to work with both children and their families and have experience with working with children as young as 3 years of age. I also have experience working with children as a special education teacher. As a clinician I want to foster healing, growth, strengthen relationships, and promote long term healing and well-being. My goal is to support every child and family with compassion and respect. I also have experience working with couples. When working with couples I strive to help strengthen connection and communication skills to help couples work together and have a happy healthy relationship.
Soon I am going to pursue training and certification in EMDR and Play Therapy.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love nature and love to get out and take pictures of nature. I also enjoy reading.
