Hello, my name is Amy Long, and I am an LPC-Associate at the Texas Counseling Center in Katy, TX, under the supervision of Ayesha Lakhani, LPC-S.
Every stage of life brings new opportunities, challenges, and transitions. Even exciting changes can leave us feeling uncertain about what comes next. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, grief, or simply trying to find your footing again, therapy can offer a place to reflect, grow, and move forward with greater confidence. As someone who has experienced many chapters of life myself, I believe that with support, self-compassion, and the right tools, even life’s most difficult seasons can become opportunities for growth and healing.
Before becoming a counselor, I spent many years raising a family, navigating my own life transitions, and working in helping professions. Those experiences give me a deep appreciation for the challenges and opportunities that accompany life’s different seasons.
I work with adolescents and adults and have experience supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, women’s issues, recovery, and major life changes. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), person-centered therapy, strengths-based approaches, trauma-informed care, and somatic techniques that help clients reconnect with the wisdom of their minds and bodies. I also enjoy exploring deeper questions of meaning, purpose, identity, and personal growth when those themes are important to the client. For clients who desire it, faith and spirituality can also be thoughtfully integrated into the counseling process.
My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself—without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything figured out. Together, we’ll identify meaningful goals, build practical coping skills, and work toward lasting change while honoring your values and experiences.
One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is helping clients recognize their resilience and create lives that feel more authentic and fulfilling.
When I’m not seeing clients, I love spending time with my children, catching up with friends, playing the piano, dancing, traveling, and getting outside whenever I can. Whether I’m hiking a mountain trail, exploring a new city, or enjoying a meaningful conversation with someone I care about, I find energy and joy in connection, adventure, and lifelong learning. The people and experiences that bring us joy are an important part of a meaningful life, and I believe it’s never too late to learn, grow, and embrace new opportunities. That belief shapes both how I live and how I support my clients.
No matter where you are in your journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you create your next chapter.
