Hello, I’m Milagro Marrero, MEd, LPC-Associate at Texas Counseling Center in Katy, supervised by Jaclyn Hurtado, LPC-S. As a bilingual counselor (English and Spanish), my biggest passion is fostering an environment that Is welcoming to all and that empowers clients in their healing and growing journey. I was born in Honduras and came to the United States when I was two. My first language was Spanish and as a first-generation immigrant I learned what it means to be resilient. I grew up in the United States, but my culture was an integral part of my upbringing and because of this I value culture and the way it shapes identity.
I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults, experiencing low self-esteem, trauma, mood disorders like anxiety or depression, and help navigate family dynamics, as well as working with individuals who want to learn how to set boundaries. My role is to provide guidance and support for my clients while holding space for them to learn coping skills, become more self-aware, and become confident as they start their haling journey. I strive to be an assist in my client’s journey of becoming the most authentic and best version of themselves so they can live a life with meaning and purpose.
The modalities I use in my practice are various evidence-based approaches. Which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I believe that the therapeutic process should be one in which the client is seen as an expert of their own life and the therapist should assist the client in becoming more self-aware, gaining coping skills, empowering the client, and helping the client identify the source of the problem and guiding them to find a solution for it.
My objective as a therapist is to provide a safe, welcoming, informative, and empowering environment. In which my clients can grow and heal. Regardless of your experience with therapy, whether you are new to therapy or have been in therapy before. I feel privileged and grateful to be able to be a part of your journey towards becoming stronger, more authentic, more self-aware, and more confident so you can live your most fulfilling life.
