Hello, my name is Kristina Dodson, and I am a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health at Lamar University. I am under the supervision of Cynthia Rojas, LPC at Texas Counseling Center, Sugar land location. I hold a bachelor’s degree in science- Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Houston where I developed a strong interest in learning how humans process environmental, emotional, and physical life changes.
I was born and raised in Houston, TX and I enjoy learning, reading, and helping people. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and sitting on the beach with a good book. I am currently a special education teacher and have been teaching for 6 years. The education field taught me skills that transfer over to counseling such as compassion, collaboration, and understanding different lifestyles.
As a graduate student, I have learned the importance of being an empathetic listener, understanding different perspectives, and guiding clients to their personal goals. I have an interest in working with individuals with trauma, depression, anxiety, life stress, and life changes. I am genuine, compassionate, trustworthy, and caring. I want to be a safe place for all my clients and help them on their personal journey.
I look forward to meeting you and collaborating with you on this journey!
