Hello, my name is Ifey Okey-Eze, and I am a therapist-in-training under supervision at Texas Counseling Center under the supervision of Jhoanie Romero.
From an early age, I was naturally drawn to people who needed support. I realized that even if I didn’t have all the answers, offering presence, empathy, and understanding could make a meaningful difference. Although I spent many years working in corporate IT, my passion for helping others eventually led me back to education to pursue counselling as a career. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling at Houston Christian University.
I believe that every individual possesses an inherent capacity for healing and growth. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore their experiences and move toward meaningful change. I enjoy working with women, particularly those navigating issues of childbearing, as well as young adults, couples, families, and individuals experiencing depression, trauma and grief. I bring a multicultural perspective to my work. Born and raised in Nigeria, I have lived in various parts of Europe and the United States, and I speak English, Dutch, and Igbo. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for cultural differences while reinforcing the shared human experiences that connect us all.
Outside the therapy room, I am deeply drawn to nature and its healing properties. I love tea and enjoy creating a wide variety of herbal blends, often exploring new ways plants can support overall well-being. I also enjoy making natural soaps, fermenting foods, and cooking nourishing, wholesome meals. These practices reflect my holistic view of wellness and my belief in caring for the mind, body, and spirit.
My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered counseling, and trauma-informed care. When appropriate and client-led, I am open to integrating clients’ spiritual or faith beliefs into the therapeutic process as a source of meaning, strength, and healing. Above all, I believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to each client’s unique needs, values, and goals.
