My name is Ridhi Mehra. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) at Texas Counseling Center in Sugar Land, supervised by Jackeline Hurtado, MEd, LPC-S.
Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve had an innate curiosity about people’s lives. What makes us who we are? What drives us to make different life choices and take divergent paths? I’m fascinated by analyzing nature vs. nurture, and how much free will plays a part in disrupting the system. As a former Emmy award winning journalist, I used to tell people’s stories. Now as a counselor, I will help you navigate your personal story toward an ending as close to your “happily ever after” as possible.
I’m a second-generation Indian American and am very cognizant of how different cultural norms and expectations play a role in shaping one’s life. Practicing tolerance, inclusion, and acceptance of everyone has been my lifelong mantra. These values inform my work and drive my commitment to providing a welcoming and nonjudgmental space for everyone.
I’m especially motivated to help you find your inner peace, achieve that intricate balance, and evolve into a more purposeful person. Everyone is capable of change, but you must want to make the transformation and be willing to put in the work to become your authentic self. I will assist you in adjusting your unhelpful thoughts in a journey to behavior practices more aligned with your goals. I counsel with compassion in a safe space to help you empower yourself. I strongly believe you are the master of your fate, the captain of your ship, and that you shape your own destiny.
I provide therapy through a Person-Centered approach while incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you shift thought patterns and behavior in ways that align with your goals. I work with individuals of all ages—from children to the elderly—and have special insight into the challenges faced by immigrants, Asian-Americans, and adolescents.
My favorite thing to do is to connect with people. I love spending time with family and friends, checking out Houston’s diverse dining scene, and getting lost in a good book while traveling. I’m happily married and the proud mother of two very active teenagers.
