Hello! My name is Lupe Diaz, and I am a counselor in training at the Texas Counseling Center in The Woodlands while completing my Master of Science and Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University under the supervision of Lizareli Bravo Lopez MA, LPC.
Before pursuing counseling, I spent over 16 years working as an ER in ICU Registered Nurse. During that time, I had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult, vulnerable, and traumatic life-changing moments. Those experiences reinforce my belief that healing extends beyond treating physical symptoms. It begins by understanding the emotional, psychological, relational, cultural, and spiritual experiences that shape each person’s story. I believe the details, even the smallest ones, matter because they often hold the key to understanding the bigger picture. My hope is to provide a space where clients never feel like they have to face life’s challenges alone. We work through them together. One step at a time. At your pace.
My counseling philosophy is grounded in creating a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment where clients can generally feel heard, respected, and empowered. As I continue developing my clinical identity, I have found myself naturally drawn to an integrated approach including Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic Therapy.
Originally from Peru, I have been exposed to a wide variety of cultures, traditions and perspectives. Strengthening my commitment to provide inclusive care and welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, identities, faith traditions, lived experiences, and when meaningful to the client, I am happy to incorporate spirituality into the therapeutic process.
My particular interests lie in supporting neurodiverse individuals and families, adolescents and young adults, life transitions, relationship concerns, caregiver stress, women’s mental health, and those navigating anxiety, trauma, and significant life changes.
Above all, I believe that healing begins with genuine human connection and finding a safe place within the relationship with your counselor. It is an honor to walk alongside clients as they discover resilience, hope, and lasting change. Let’s get to work!
