
Dr. Stephen Tate, Psy.D., M.Div., is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 35 years of experience in the mental health field. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Tate provides psychoeducational and intellectual testing and integrates cognitive behavioral therapy with psychodynamic theory to assist adults, children, adolescents, and families in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. These include substance abuse, nicotine addiction, attentional issues, depression, trauma, marital problems, and anxiety disorders. In addition, he specializes in conducting fitness-for-duty evaluations (FFDE) for employees and police candidates.
Dr. Tate firmly believes that how a person thinks influences emotions and behavior. As a result, he enjoys helping individuals develop proactive solutions and life skills to gain greater control over their daily life situations. With a unique blend of training in both theology and psychology, Dr. Tate guides clients in integrating their faith with life challenges, offering counseling that strengthens values and empowers clients to address emotional, social, behavioral, and mental health concerns.
Beyond his professional work, Dr. Tate is a dedicated father of twins and triplets and has been married for over 30 years.
